To me, this looks much better, a much tighter and effective image. I agree with the idea of using the image you see in the view finder but I find that I crop in my mind as I take the shot, not every subject requires the fixed format the camera requires. I use two cameras with different frame proportions and have to crop to produce the final image I am looking for.
As with any art or graphic image there isn't a right or wrong but why leave an image you are not quite happy with if a bit of snipping will sort it out?
As I am writing, I am looking up at the picture and the more I look at it , the more I like it!
