A day of no consequence

Not much to say really. Been a bit of a blah, blah day and going through the motions without any real enthusiasm. There is always tomorrow. A time of change, but will it prove to be for the better. Note the other place is running competitions now, with public funding support. 'Open to everyone', continues to be their PR face. JT thinking about giving-up on the day job.

  1. Good shot. I've been having more than a few blah days recently... These things come and go... I have to say that I'm quite surprised about the competitions with public funding. Aside from our respective histories there, and regardless of anything else, I thought that public funding was only given to not-for-profit organisations. And I thought that already was JT's day job...

  2. 'for profit' organisations can be supported by public money as long as they can clearly demonstrate that the public funding is towards 'not for profit activities', which I assume this is. I was thinking more along the lines of discrimination/exclusion of individuals or groups and limiting membership through rules, which is a big no no. Anything receiving public funds, must be truly open to all, even those you may not like or whose views you do not share.

  3. Not for profit activities? So a competition isn't a promotional activity with the aim of attracting attention and encouraging people to take up paid membership of the profit-making activities? OK, I'm just an old cynic... Fully agree with your exclusion issue.

  4. Cynicism bad, questioning good! Funding in this case is via the Digital IP funding stream from Scottish Screen, details in the public domain i.e. on their website (award to the Joe Tree, August 2009 - £20,000) SS investment conditions appear to be significantly different from the funding conditions of the Scottish Arts Council. Will be interesting to see how the guidelines/conditions develop when we become one (SS/SAC) under Creative Scotland later this year. Given that it is an investment, the 'public' should share in any profit generated by said investment. I would be confident that the award will be being suitably monitored by my chum(s) at SS.

  5. PS - wonder if JT and the boys are following this ... how you doing guys. No annonymous comment postings recently! I wonder what would happen if I/others applied to join Blipfoto with a view to entering the competition ... shall we try!

  6. I didn't realise they had received as much as that. I was wondering if they were following this too. I'm sure they would be delighted for me to enter... OK, maybe delighted isn't the right word... But I wasn't actually kicked out. Left of my own accord. You are one of a much more select group ;-)

  8. Dear JT or the wing-less-one (or do you prefer to continue to be Mr Anonymous). I see you appear to be still interested in little me, or is it simply monitoring the web for any mention of your baby Blipfoto, I assume in case you need to get the heavies on a case ( ..paranoia strikes deep, into your life it will creep ...). Trust your sticking to other people's rules ;-)

  9. How odd that you are being watched. They will send in the boys soon, or maybe the clowns?
